Ecuador to start consultations with WTO for new arbitration

Tholen – The Ecuadorian minister of Foreign Trade, Jorge Illingworth, reports that his country will start consultations with the WTO, as preparations for a new arbitration request regarding the European banana import regime. The same experts which have judged the previous arbitration in the conflict with the EU have been contracted to this extent. Presently Ecuador initiates these consultations on its own initiative, but other Latin-American banana exporting countries will ratify their participation in the request for a new arbitration round end of this month.
