Ecuador: no rights for Bonita (Corporación Noboa) personnel
Tholen - According to the Ecuadorian ministry of Labour, ten companies within Corporación Noboa are applying a policy of rotation of personnel, in a way that employees are never given any long term contracts. Instead, the personnel are being put on the payroll of different companies within the holding, to prevent that money would be spent on any of the employee contributions the law dictates. However, the companies are accommodated in the same office building and have the same group of administrators.
It is obvious that personnel are being rotated in Industrial Bananera Álamos, Agrícola Bananera Clementina and Compañía Agrícolas La Julia. For the other seven companies, Bananera Las Mercedes, Agrimont, Honorasa, Compañía Bananera del Ecuador and the companies Río Ventanas, Loma Larga en Ángela María, it is not exactly clear how the employees are incorporated, but it is clear that rotation is being applied.
This way, about 2928 employees are exchanged within companies of Corporación Noboa. There are examples of employees who have been put on other pay lists up to seven times. The ministry is preparing further investigation into these practices.
