Georgia significantly reduced potato imports from Belarus

In the first quarter of 2024, Georgia has notably decreased its potato imports from Belarus compared to the same period last year. Both the volume and value of purchases have decreased significantly.

While in January-March 2023, Georgia imported 6,371 tons of Belarusian potatoes, for the same period in 2024, the figure dropped to 518 tons. In terms of monetary value, imports in the first quarter of 2024 decreased to $137,500, whereas in January-March 2023, they amounted to $1.72 million.

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, in 2023, the country spent approximately $2.18 million on importing Belarusian potatoes.
