India and New Zealand concluded their 11th Joint Trade Committee meeting, focusing on enhancing bilateral trade and economic relations. Both nations discussed the establishment of a bilateral economic dialogue architecture, aiming to address trade and economic issues through the formation of working groups in key sectors.
Key discussions included cooperation in the horticulture sector, with a focus on kiwi fruit and dairy, aiming to boost productivity and quality standards. The meeting also addressed market access issues, non-tariff barriers, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures, reflecting a commitment to resolving trade challenges.
The pharmaceutical and medical devices sector was another area of focus, with discussions on streamlining regulatory processes and enhancing quality assessment. The meeting also touched upon collaboration in digital trade, cross-border payment systems, and environmental commitments. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the World Trade Organization and emphasized the importance of cooperative engagement within global platforms such as G20 and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity.
