Costa Rica highlights the importance of Spain as a gateway for its products to Europe

Arnoldo André Tinoco, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica, attended a lunch organized by the Alianza Por Iberoamérica Business Council (CEAPI), chaired by Núria Vilanova. In his visit to Spain, the Costa Rican minister highlighted that Costa Rica is a reliable partner for investment, underlining the country's democratic soundness and legal certainty.

He also stressed the importance of Spain as a gateway for Costa Rican products in the European market, especially through the port of Algeciras. The Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union (AACUE) has allowed Costa Rica to position key products such as bananas, pineapples, palm oil, fruit juices, and concentrates in Europe.

Núria Vilanova highlighted the growing role of Costa Rica and Central America in the current geostrategic context, where the search for alternative markets, green energy, and alliances with emerging markets are key elements for future investments. Vilanova emphasized the importance of dialogue between countries and investors and the need to keep open the bridges between Latin America, Europe, and the United States, without forgetting the emerging role of countries such as China and India in the region.

The president of CEAPI also underlined the influence of the region's entrepreneurs on the opening of markets and their countries' economic and social development. She also stated that these issues will be discussed at the VII CEAPI Ibero-American Congress for Presidents of Companies and Business Families from June 17 to 19, 2024, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. The event will bring together 500 presidents of the main multi-Ibero-American companies, under the slogan "Believe, grow, create". This is the second time the Congress will be held in Latin American territory. In 2022, it was held in the Dominican Republic.
